History
The
Readington Reformed Church, founded in 1719, is apart of the
Reformed Church in America, one of the oldest protestant denominations
in this country. It is the Dutch who brought this particular
branch of "the Church of Jesus Christ, Reformed according
to the Word of God" to our shores. The sanctuary on Readington
Road (Route 620) was built in 1865 and is the congregation's
fourth sanctuary.
A 171
page book entitled "Readington Reformed Church History
(1719-1969)" is available in the Church office. This
book was written by Lorena Vincent Cole with sketches by Ruth
Hageman Doremus and Doris Bacorn Hough.
